Make sure your metroplex/city exists in
our location drop down.

This is usually done within hours.

muslim-calendar.com for your city.

site.

Choose "Post Event"
from menu on left or right.

on that city's calendar. A url is also available for you to
publicize.

Navigating the
Calendar
-
Always click on our logo to go back
to the home page.
-
For first time users, events for All Cities
are selected. Use the drop down labeled "Change City"
to select your city. After you set this, everytime you come back
to muslim-calendar, you will view events of that city only. You may
change the city again if you like.
-
By default, you view events for the current
month as shown on top of the calendar. To change the
month you're viewing, click on the previous month shown to the
left of the current month, or to the next month shown to the right of
the current month. You may also choose the drop down labeled
"Change Month" and selected a month and/or
year.

Click on event titles inside date boxes to
see details of events.

You can hide Recurring Events by clicking
on the link labeled "Hide Recurring Events". You can
unhide these by clicking on "Show Recurring
Events".

You can hide your personal Events by clicking
on the link labeled "Hide Personal Events". You can
unhide these by clicking on "Show Personal
Events". Please note, you need to be logged in to view your
personal events.

You can browse events by different
types
using the column on top of the calendar labeled
"Browse By". Click here to view a description of each type by
category.

Adding/Posting

Subscribe to

Editing
-
You can only edit
events you or your organization added to the calendar.

Log in to the
site.

Navigate to the event you need to
edit.

Click it to enter detail view.

Click the EDIT button on top.

Edit/Correct/Add and information and hit
UPDATE.

Deleting
-
You can only delete
events you or your organization added to the calendar.

Log in to the
site.

Navigate to the event you need to
delete.

Click it to enter detail view.

Click the DELETE button on top.

Viewing
-
By Default
The default view of the calendar is viewed on the home page just like
a normal
calendar. First time
you visit the site, it shows you all public events of all cities for
the
current month. Choose
your city from the drop down menu on the right. Once you do this, you will
only
view events of that city by default on that
computer.
Click on event titles to view details on event.

Weekend
This
view
shows all public events for selected city for coming weekend.
-
7
Days
This
view shows details on all public events for seletced city for next 7
days.
-
Today
This view takes you back to the home page and displays the current
month.
-
All
Events
This view shows details on all public events for selected city.
-
Deen
Retreats
This view shows details on all events added as deen retreats.
Deen retreats
are
special intensive seminars on Islamic Education. e.g., the ALIM Program,
Rehla etc.

By
Speaker
This view shows a list of all speakers. You can then click on a speaker to
get all
events
that speaker is speaking at.
Please
note, this list of speakers includes speakers with
events
on muslim-calendar.com only.

By
Organization
This
view shows a list of all organizatins. You can then click on
an organization to get
all events
sponsored by that organization.

Types
There are 4 types of events:
-
Public/General Events . These are viewed at
all times for selected city.
-
Recurring Events : These are events that
occur every week. These events are public.
-
Personal Events : These are private events added by
users and viewable only with
authirization from the user. You need to be logged in
to view your events.
-
Online Events: These are
showin across all cities since they are accessible
anywhere.
You may hide or show types 2 & 3 on
the main calendar by clicking on options right below
the "Change Month" option.

Reminders
Event
reminder emails are sent to out communities by city admins once a
week. You
need to be subscribed to your city list to get these emails.

RSVP
Click on an event and enter a number to
reflect how many in your party plan on coming to
the event
inshaAllah. Please
note, this function does NOT register you for the event. It is,
however, used by
event
organizers to get
an estimate of how many people to expect.

Find a roommate
This feature allows you to collaborate with
others who are planning on
attending an
event in order to find a roommate for that event. This will help share
the
cost of
hotel/rental car
etc.
Click on the details of any event. Then, click the "roommate"
option.
You can add yourself or contact others with provided
information.
Please note, you may choose to hide your email address, in which
case others will
still be
able to send you a private email thru
muslim-calendar.com, without knowing your
email
address.

Search
Our developers are working hard to bring this feature to you. You will be
able to search events
by title, date, speaker & organizations.

Users

Subscription
You don't need to subscribe to view events on this
site. Subscription
is used for event reminders and personal calendars only, and is
free.

Personal Calendars
Once you subscribe, you can create your
own personal calendars that you can share with
friends and family. This is a good way to view your events along with
community events
to
avoid conflict. Click here to find out how to create
personal calendars.

Logging in
You can log in to the site using your
email address and password provided to you after
you
subscribed.
If you forget your password, click here. If you
forget which email address you signed up
with,contact
us.
Once you log in, your personal events show next to public
events.

My Calendar
Once
you log in, click on My Calendar and you can change the following
settings:
Full Name: Please update this after you subscribe to
the
calendar.
City: Select the city you would like to subscribe to.
Soon, you will be able to
select more
than 1
city.
Subscribe: Check this box to receive event reminder emails,
uncheck it to stop
receiving emails. You can still browse the site and/or log in and
use your
personal
calendar.
Email Frequency: If you have subscribed to email
reminders, this is how often you
will
receive them. Email
Deen Retreats:
You can choose to subscribe to reminders about Deen
Retreats
as soon as they are added. It is important to do this since deen
retreats are
usually not
in the same city and hence require more planning and travel
arrangements.
Your Password: Change this often to protect your
privacy on this
site.
Your existing calendars: If you have created personal
or organizational calendars, these
will be displayed
here. Creating
Personal/Organizational Calendars: Enter a name for your
personal
calendar
and select Update. This calendar will be added to your profile.

benefits of consolidating all muslim events on one site are numerous and
will unite us all inshaAllah on

platform that is not political nor

we can all be united on one site.

Everyone
can browse events on this site without signing up. However, to add events
for a city or
organization, you need to sign up, which is free. Click here to sign

Subscription

Subscription is free.
Subscribing to muslim-calendar.com allows you to:

Post Public Events after you request and are granted Admin
privileges.

Create personal calendars.
-
Add personal events/schedules that you can
share with friends and family members.
-
Get weekly emails on next weeks' events in
your city. This setting can be turned off if you
wish.
Only 1 Step to Subscribe:
-
Click on "Sign Up" or click
here. Enter your email address,
choose your city & hit subscribe.
You are now subscribed. An email with your
randomly generated temporary password will be emailed to the
email address you entered. You can use this password to log in to
the site and change your password/settings. Click here for
instructions on logging
in and your profile.
You can now log in to
muslim-calendar.com. You can also create your personal
calendar. See the next section for instructions on that.
To Unsubscribe from any reminder emails, follow these steps:

Log in to the site

Click on My Calendar.
-
Uncheck the box that says
"Subscribe".
You will not receive any event emails from
us. But you may
continue to browse the site and use your personal calendar.

Personal / Organizational Calendars

Online Calendars:
Personal / Organizational calendars are used as a
personal online calendar by members of muslim-calendar.com for
free. Members can post their events, appointments, meetings
etc. These events are visible next to
your communities events to avoid scheduling conflicts.
Members
can have up to 5 calendars.
Confidentiality:
Calendars are confidential and require members to
log in. Only you or people sharing your calendar with you can view your events.
Steps to create your Calendar:

Subscribe to muslim-calendar.com as shown
here
.

After you receive your temporary
password through email, log in as shown here.
-
Select "My Calendar" on the
website.
-
At the end of the page, enter the name
you have chosen for your calendar. Please follow instructions on
that page for this name.

Hit Update. Your personal calendar has now been
created.
Invite others to join your calendar so you can share your events/meetings:
-
Log in to the site. Click on "My
Calendar"
.
-
Click on "Invite Others to Join Your Calendar".
-
Select "My Calendar" on the
website.
-
Enter email addresses of as many friends or
family members as you wish.
-
Enter your name and email address unless filled
in for you automatically.
-
Enter the calendar name you created for you
or your organization.
-
Edit the text that will be sent with your
invitation. Make sure not to delete the name of the
calendar.
-
Hit Invite.
-
Follow up with the invited on
adding your calendar to their profile.

Besides Organizations, "City Admins"
run this muslim calendar. We have appointed admins for a few
cities to keep events
updated. Not all cities are active on this site. We
are always looking for active people from all cities.
So, subscribe to the calendar and request Admin
privileges.
You
can request to become and admin for your city too. Our city
admins are active, well-connected and determined folks to provide this service to the ummah. Click here to request Admin

Cities
The vision of uniting all muslim
events on one site is incomplete until we get all cities on this
site.

Add/Edit Event HelpAdding events is very easy.
Enter all required fields, paying special attention to the type field
and click the "Add Event" button. Make sure to check for
errors in red on top of the screen once you hit "Add
Event".

Start Date (Required) (month/date/year) : Enter the date this event starts.
-
End Date (Required only for recurring
events ) (month/date/year) : If this event is recurring, please enter the date it will end. Maximum time for recurring events is 1 year from start date.
-
Event Title (Required): This is the
text that shows on the calendar for the event. Make this title as
catchy and precise as possible so viewers can identify the event
easily. Please note: only the first 11 characters of this title will
show on the calendar.
-
Event City (Required): Make sure this
isn't selected to your default city. Select the city the event
occurs in. If you don't see the desired city, look for the greater
metroplex the city is located in. If you don't see the metroplex
either, please contact us to add the city.

Event Type (Required):
There are 4 types of events. Click here for a description of
these. Please note, personal events are not shown on the calendar unless you log in.

Personal Calendar (Not
Required): If adding a personal event, you can
select which of your calendars to add the event to. e.g.,
your faimly calendar, your work calendar etc.
-
Event Time (Required) (hh:mm or
prayer time): What time does the event start. This can be a
prayer time too in case the event starts before or after one.
-
Event Sponsor (Required): This can be the
organization responsible for putting the event together. Please note,
this can be different from the location of the event or from the
organization adding the event.

Event Details (Required): Enter all
information pertaining to the event including babysitting info,
registration fees etc. Upto 1200 characters allowed.
-
Location (Not
Required): Enter street address of location of event.
This will soon be connected to a map.
-
Event Speaker (Not
Required): Highly recommended. Choose from the
drop down or enter speaker(s) into free text.
-
Contact (Not
Required): Enter a phone number or email address
for people to contact you about this event.
-
Event Url (Not
Required): Highly recommended. Url to register
for the event or get more information on it. Please note: if you need a 1
page website for your event for free, contact us.
